Fumiyuki Adachi received the B.S. and Dr. Eng. degrees in electrical engineering from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1973 and 1984, respectively. In April 1973, he joined the Electrical Communications Laboratories of NTT and started mobile communications research. From July 1992 to December 1999, he was with NTT DOCOMO, leading a research group on wideband/broadband wireless access for 3G and beyond. He contributed to developing the 3G air interface standard, known as W-CDMA. Since January 2000, he has been with Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan. Currently, as a Specially Appointed Research Fellow/Professor Emeritus at the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS), Tohoku University, he is researching the resilient wireless communication technology for B5G/6G systems. He is IEEE/IEICE Life Fellow. He is the recipient of 2000 IEEE VTS Avant Garde Award, 2002 IEICE Achievement Award, 2004 Thomson Scientific Research Front Award, 2010 Prime Minister Invention Award, 2014 C&C Prize, 2017 IEEE VTS Stuart Meyer Memorial Award, and 2017 IEEE ComSoc RCC Technical Recognition Award.

Ying-Chang Liang (Fellow, IEEE) was a Professor with The University of Sydney, Australia; and a Principal Scientist with the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), Singapore. He is currently a Professor with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, China. His research interests include 5G/6G networks, cognitive radio, dynamic spectrum access, symbiotic radio, and passive Internet of Things. He was a recipient of numerous paper awards, including the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Stuart Meyer Memorial Award in 2025, the IEEE Communications Society Award for Advances in Communications in 2022, the IEEE Communications Society Stephen O. Rice Prize in 2021, and the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Jack Neubauer Memorial Award in 2014. He also received the Recognition Award and Publication Award from the IEEE Communications Society Technical Committee on Cognitive Networks in 2018 and 2020, respectively. He served as the TPC Chair and the Executive Co-Chair for the IEEE Globecom 2017, the TPC Co-Chair for the IEEE Globecom 2024, and General Chair for IEEE VTC-Fall 2025. He has been recognized by Clarivate Analytics as a Highly Cited Researcher since 2014. He was the Founding Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications: Cognitive Radio Series from 2011 to 2014 and IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking from 2019 to 2022. He was a Guest/Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and IEEE Transactions on Signal and Information Processing over Network. He is the Associate Editor-in-Chief of China Communications.
Dr. Rui Zhang (Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of the Academy of Engineering Singapore) received the B.Eng. (first-class Hons.) and M.Eng. degrees from National University of Singapore and the Ph.D. degree from Stanford University, all in electrical engineering. He is now a Provost’s Chair Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore. He is also an Adjunct Professor with the School of Science and Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, China. His current research interests include intelligent surfaces, reconfigurable antennas, radio mapping, non-terrestrial communications, wireless power transfer, AI and optimization methods. He was the recipient of the IEEE Communications Society Asia-Pacific Region Best Young Researcher Award in 2011, the Young Researcher Award of National University of Singapore in 2015, the Recognition Award of WTC, SPCC and TCCN Technical Committees of the IEEE Communications Society in 2020, 2021 and 2023, respectively, and the IEEE James Evans Avant Garde Award in 2025. He received 18 IEEE Best Journal Paper Awards, including the IEEE Marconi Prize Paper Award in Wireless Communications (twice), the IEEE Communications Society Heinrich Hertz Prize Paper Award (thrice), the IEEE Communications Society Stephen O. Rice Prize, the IEEE Signal Processing Society Best Paper Award, etc. He has served as an Editor for several IEEE journals, including TWC, TCOM, JSAC, TSP, etc., and as TPC co-chair or organizing committee member for over 30 international conferences. He served as an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Signal Processing Society.Â

Kin-Fai Tong (Fellow, IEEE) is currently a Chair Professor of Antennas and Applied Electromagnetics at Hong Kong Metropolitan University. He has a strong track record in novel wideband antennas, circularly polarized patch antenna designs, and microwave/mmWave techniques. His career aspiration is to make a real impact on society through world-leading research activities and innovations. This is evident in his pathway from fundamental research to innovation, industrial collaboration, patents, commercialization of technologies, and engagement with policymakers, schools, and the general public.
Recently, he is actively working in fluid antennas, surface waves, and wideband mmWave transducers for future wireless communications systems. His dedication to knowledge transfer is reflected in his Innovate UK project, which was graded “Outstanding” (placing it in the top 5% of all projects). The project was even featured in the Parliamentary Review of the UK.
Professor Tong is also a Chartered Engineer in the UK and a Fellow of the Electromagnetics Academy (MIT, USA). He received the UCL Knowledge Transfer Business of the Year Award in 2015 and the UCL Provost’s Spirit of Enterprise Award in 2017. His editorial contributions include recognition as Best Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II, and service as an Associate Editor for IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters. He served as General Chair of the IEEE iWEM 2017 and TPC Co-Chair of the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on RF and Wireless Technologies for Biomedical and Healthcare Applications. He currently also serves as a Subject Editor for Antennas for Electronics Letters (IET). Professor Tong was Lead Guest Editor of the IEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation for the Special Section on Recent Advancements in Liquid Antennas and Their Applications in 2020, and a Guest Editor for the Special Sections on Advanced Antenna Technologies for 5G Internet-of-Things Applications in 2020 and for the IEEE Journal of Electromagnetics, RF and Microwaves in Medicine and Biology (J-ERM) in 2021.
Zhili Sun is a Chair Professor and Director of PhD Program at the 6G Innovation Center (6GIC), Institute of Communication Systems (ICS), School of Computer and Electronic Engineering, University of Surrey, UK. As project leader, he worked on many major research projects on satellites. He has supervised many doctors and postdoctoral fellows, published more than 240 papers in international journals and conferences and three books on satellite communications and networks. He has actively participated in and contributed to ITU-T and ETSI’s works on satellite communication networks, as well as IEEE future networks on satellite 5G/6G development and research on Mega Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation networks and future satellite network roadmap. He has served as Editorial Board member for several international journals related to satellite communications, security and space technology and the TPC member and Session Chairman in international conferences. He currently is an Editorial Board Member of Nature – Scientific Report on Space Technology, and Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking.
